A seminar audience follows David Salisbury, Polytek®'s Sales Manager, along the Product Wall as he discusses examples of every product made by Polytek®.

Jerry Glassberg of Island Statuary, Shelter Island, NY, reproduced his clay model in a Poly 74-30 cut mold. The castings were made in cold-cast bronze and EasyFlo™  60.

Ed Terebus from Halloween Events, Troy, MI, has his plaster shell sealed and strapped down to the base to avoid any leaks when he pours the mold rubber into the space between the shell and model.

Kathleen Kindig of Freeland, MD, was assisted by Angus Macaulay of Polytek® in reproducing very delicate insects cast with EasyFlo™  60 and cold-cast bronze.

Breon Gilleran of Baltimore, MD, is pleased with this reproduction of her plasticene model in cold-cast bronze. Soft, fast setting PlatSil® 71-10 was used to mold fragile ornaments in fast-setting EasyFlo™  60.

Martine McLaughlin of South Orleans, MA, reproduced her clay sculpture in a brush-on mold of Polygel® 40 with a shell of Polygel® Plastic 75. Here she shows (from left to right) the original, the mold, the casting, and the shell.

Rafael Gomez of Julissa Casting, Carolina, PR, reproduced a heavy bronze head in a Poly 74-30 block mold. He made this excellent reproduction with bonded bronze using PolyPoxy® resin with 85% bronze powder and backfilling with Poly 15-3X Poly Urethane.

Sandra North of Valhalla, NY, made a large EasyFlo™ 60 casting of her original clay sculpture. Assisted by Joe Lawrence, her husband, and Scott Moninghoff, Sandra boxed up the original and molded in Poly 74-30, a low-cost, low-viscosity, easy-to-use polyurethane. After the rubber cured overnight, the original was cut out and the mold strapped together to pour the casting.

Shaula Richardson of Richardson Bronze and Wood of Conway, SC, used soft PlatSil® 71-10 with a one-piece shell of Polygel® Plastic 75 to mold and cast delicate carved birds in cold-cast bronze.

New PolyFoam™  R-8 was poured in a mold of PlatSil® 73-45 to reproduce a wood picture frame brought to a recent seminar by Scott Graham and Jason Amodea of Heritage Frame, Nesquehoning, PA. They said the quality of the reproduction was as good as any they had seen commercially.

Tom Rupnicki and Phil Vinson of Criterion Coating Systems, Aston, PA, have made a clear Poly 74-30 rubber casting of their sculpture in a cut mold of Poly 74-30 regular. The regular grade cuts more easily than the clear version, so it was used for the mold.

1998 Seminar/Workshop Schedule

October 8 & 9, 1998, and April 8 & 9 and October 7 & 8, 1999, are the dates for the next three scheduled Seminar/Workshops. The two-day sessions will be held at Polytek®'s well-equipped 5,000-square-foot moldmaking and casting demonstration and shop area in the Easton, PA, facility. Each session can accommodate up to 30 people. A complete review of all Polytek® materials and methods of use is followed by hands-on moldmaking and casting. Each two-day attendee does their own project with the assistance of Polytek® technicians and chemists. In addition to seeing many different materials in use, the objective is for each attendee to make their own mold and casting. The fee for both days, including all materials, is $300 and includes a Manual & Catalog and a video of a portion of a previous session. Advance registration is required.
