Molds from Poly 74-30 Top It All

Polytek®'s Poly 74-30 Poly Urethane liquid mold rubber was used by Suleiman Studios to cast these large column capitals which adorn the tops of 24-foot columns in a prominent private residence. Suleiman Studios prefers 74-30 because it both is easy to use (1:1 mix ratio and low viscosity) and exhibits excellent release characteristics when used for casting plasters such as these polymer-modified gypsum capitals.
Poly 74-30 is a permanent mold material that can be stored indefinitely for reuse if additional castings may be required. The Poly 74-Series liquid mold rubbers range in hardness from a soft Shore A~30 to a firmer Shore A~55 and are used extensively for casting interior ornaments in gypsum, concrete, and resins. These versatile rubbers may be poured or brushed, depending upon the application. Polytek® manufactures the widest array of pourable, brushable, and sprayable liquid mold rubbers, including polyurethanes, silicones, polysulfides, and latexes, as well as other specialty mold compounds.

Poly Purge™ Dry Gas Extends Shelf Life of Poly Urethanes

Tietex Reinforcing Fabric

A blast of Poly Purge™ into an open container, just before resealing the lid, displaces moist air, thus extending the life of polyurethane liquids. Poly Purge™ is heavier than air and is nonflammable and non–ozone depleting. It is packaged in an aerosol type can with a special nozzle extension useful for directing the gas into the desired space.
Poly Purge™ is $10.00 for a 10-ounce can or $99.00 for a case of 12 cans.

This very strong and conformable reinforcing fabric wets out better than any other fabric we have seen. A small piece of Tietex can be laminated in at the top of a seam in a brushed or sprayed mold to prevent tearing. A sheet of this material can be laid into the back of an open poured mold to increase its durability. Tietex can also be used as a bridging material for spanning undercuts in sprayed or brushed molds.
