POLY SULFIDE RTV LIQUID RUBBER

DESCRIPTION:
Poly Sulfide rubbers consist of liquid Part A and Part B which, when mixed in proper ratio, cure at room temperature to soft, non-tacky rubbers for flexible molds suitable for casting waxes, gypsum plasters, cements and some low exotherm resins. Polytek Poly Sulfides are a new generation of classic polymer formulas developed to new levels of high performance through creative chemistry.

FEATURES:

  • Lead free cures
  • Cured waste rubber is non-hazardous
  • Long work time with fast demold
  • Complete molds fast
  • More fluid
  • Flows readily into finest detail
  • No cold flow, better snap
  • Molds resist deformation
  • Easy release from models
  • More successful molds

MODEL PREPARATION: See Methods of Use. Poly Sulfides release well from most properly sealed and released model surfaces, but will stick to copper containing metals (i.e. bronze) and may attack or dissolve lacquered surfaces and styrene type plastics. Bronze should be coated with shellac.

MIXING AND CURING: See Methods of Use. Polytek Poly Sulfides remain pourable longer than most other mold rubbers, but cure much faster. If necessary, the rubber can often be demolded in 6 to 8 hours, but overnight cures of 12 to 16 hours or longer are preferable. Polytek Poly Sulfides resist cold flow and deformation better than any competitive polysulfide rubber we have seen. Liquid Poly Sulfide rubber will bond to previously poured, cured or uncured, Poly Sulfide of the same grade. Bond strength between layers continues to improve during the first 24 hours of cure.

BONDING PRIMER: For some uses, it is desirable for the liquid Poly Sulfide bond to surfaces it is poured against. Poly Bonding Primer will aid in achieving good bonds to many surfaces. Apply a thin coat of Poly Binding Primer to bonding surface. Pour Poly Rubber over prepared surface within 60 minutes. Bond strength will continue to improve for 24 hours. For best results on porous surfaces, seal with a sealer or with Poly Bonding Primer first, then after sealer has dried, apply coat of Poly Bonding Primer.

USING THE MOLD: See Methods of Use. Although Poly Sulfide molds exhibit no shrinkage on curing, all polysulfide mold rubbers may shrink after repeated use draws extractible plasticizer from the mold.

SAFETY: See Methods of Use.
