Industrial Applications
Replicate parts or create custom industrial tools and parts using Polytek® two-component, RTV polyurethane rubbers, silicone rubbers, polyurethane plastics, and polyurethane foams.
Polyurethane and silicone rubbers range in hardness from a Shore OO30 to a Shore D45 and can be used to create a wide variety of parts and tools, including rollers, gaskets, bushings, seals, bumpers, pads, plugs, vibration reducers, mallet heads, wheels and more.
Polyurethane plastics can be used for parts that require more rigidity and polyurethane foams can be used to backfill parts that need to be lightweight.

Fast-Setting Rubbers. Fast-setting, rapid demold polyurethane rubbers. Shore hardness Range: A20 to D60. |
Polyurethane rubbers are most often the material of choice for industrial parts and tools; however, silicones are often preferred for manufacturing plugs and stamps when the part is pressed against materials like fiberglass, epoxies and styrene because of their excellent release properties.

PlatSil® products are platinum-cured silicones that offer no shrink on cure and long library life. A wide range of Shore hardness options are available. |
|
TinSil® products are tin-cured silicones that are slightly less expensive than PlatSil® silicones, but shrink slightly on cure and have shorter library life. |
NOTE ON CURE INHIBITION: Sulfur/tin/amine-contaminated materials and tools will cause cure inhibition in platinum-cured silicone rubbers, which means that the rubber that is in contact with the contaminated surface will remain gummy or uncured. Make sure to test cure the rubber on your surface before full-scale application. Use a polyurethane or tin-cured silicone rubber if you know that you’ll be working with any of these inhibitors.
Polyurethane plastics can be used to make industrial parts that require rigidity.

Kast Series Urethane Resins | Kast Series products are high-performance, fast-cast tooling and casting urethane resins that were developed to provide high moisture resistance, improved filler suspension, easier premixing of the components, and minimal shrinkage. |
Strong plastics with varying densities; some similar to thermoplastics, others like stone. |
|
Water-clear plastics for parts that require optical clarity. |
|
A low-density, wood-like casting, which is easily carved, cut, sanded and drilled. |
|
A low-density, slightly flexible plastic used to make parts that require impact resistance. |
Casting foams can be used to manufacture lightweight parts or to backfill hollow castings.
