Concrete Casting: Cast Stone Veneer
Polytek® liquid mold rubbers are the mold material of choice for high-volume veneer stone production (manual or automated manufacturing). These two-component mold rubbers capture excellent surface detail, offer exceptional dimensional stability and have unmatched lifetime and durability compared to hot melt and polypropylene systems.
Molds made from these room temperature curing systems can be completed in a much shorter timeframe (~16 hour demold) compared to latex rubber molds. When properly maintained, these molds can last for years and produce thousands of stones.
Popular product options are listed below:
A soft polyurethane rubber popular for multi-cavity molds. Can be thickened with PolyFiber II or Fumed Silica to make brush-on molds.
A mid-range hardness polyurethane rubber popular for panelized systems. Can be thickened with PolyFiber II or Fumed Silica to make brush-on molds.
A medium hardness, platinum-cured silicone rubber that does not require form release. Can be thickened with PlatThix Liquid Thickener or Fumed Silica to make brush-on molds.
The NaturForm Series offers high-performing, natural molding latex rubbers that are most often used to make molds for casting plaster and concrete (e.g., veneer stone manufacturing and statuary). NaturForm products offer excellent tear strength and elongation properties and are available in 60-64% solid content options and a high solids option (70-74%). NaturForm 60-R has an internal release agent that assists in the release of casting materials, like concrete.
